Officers were called to the Citgo gas station on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 2, Montgomery County Police said.
The victim of the carjacking told police his car was stolen while he left the car unlocked and running to go inside and buy some food.
The victim came out and chased the suspect to the area of Connecticut Avenue and Bel Pre Road with the help of another person. When the victim caught up with the suspect, he threatened to kill him with a knife and told him to stay away. The suspect then drove off.
Detectives now have images of the suspect after obtaining surveillance footage. The suspect is described as a Black male, standing about 5’7” and weighing 160 pounds. He was wearing a black mask, black hooded jacket, dark blue jeans and black/white tennis shoes at the time of the incident.
The stolen car is a silver 2006 Honda Accord bearing Maryland license plate 1EK3411.
